The Great British Bunny Book Tradition

There's just no denying that the English have the edge on the most noted nursery books of all time, and certainly a few of my favorites. Peter Rabbit, Wind in the Willows, Pooh Corner-- British, British, and yet again, British. I've mentioned Jill Barklem and her Brambly Hedge books here before, and Brian & Cynthia Paterson's Foxwood Tales, but I wonder if you know the Oakapple Wood Stories by the wonderful illustrator Jenny Partridge. I have only four of her books done in the eighties, now out-of-print. The book jackets and pages are in color, but I wanted just the prints for this post. The illustrations are full of the delightful detail British artists are known for. . . .

The end pages are wonderfully drawn too!

  12. 'Woeful and the Waspberries'? 'Little Gray Rabbit'?

One wonderful thing about all these books, they are perfect for adult insomnia, they lull, soothe and charm you right back to the pillow...

  23. All of your pictures are beautiful. The book illustrations are so well done, lucky you.
I love all things pink and white. You have a teapot and cup and saucer that I particularly love...the pink and white with gold trim and white flowers on the pink. Do they have markings from the maker of these beautiful pieces? If so, would you mind letting me know who it is? Thank you for sharing your lovely things with us.
